If you’re considering a career in the performing arts, our program offers two outstanding educational pathways depending on your goals—whether you want to prepare for a career in dance performance, choreography, teaching, or fitness instruction, or whether you're looking to diversify your dance portfolio through technology, kinesiology, performance, and real-world application.

Students at any Maricopa Community College may need to complete courses at more than one of our colleges.

SCC Program Description

Professional Dance Training and Dance for Fun! SCC Dance is a nationally recognized and award-winning dance program. We provide a safe, encouraging environment and offer classes for students of all ages and levels across various dance styles. We train our students using sound kinesiological practices to foster effective and efficient movement. Our faculty are passionate experts in the field and are here to help all our students achieve their dance goals.

Dance Performance and Technology

The Dance Performance and Technology program is designed for students who plan to enter the field of dance as performers, choreographers, teachers, and multimedia technicians. The program provides classes in dance technique (Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop), performance, and production, as well as training in multimedia production and the application of video and computer technology to dance. Students are offered the opportunity to demonstrate this knowledge by producing a short dance concert that focuses on performance, choreography for stage and film, camera techniques, non-linear editing, visual and lighting design, and original sound design.

Course Format / Textbooks

Classes are offered in various formats: in-person, online, hybrid, day, evening, full-time, and part-time. Most courses use low-cost textbooks or no-cost materials your instructors provide. General education courses may have textbooks that cost more.
