Mathematics
Math plays an essential role in our world. If you have a head for numbers and an interest in how math concepts describe real-world phenomena and make important predictions, the Mathematics program can prepare you for further studies leading to careers in a variety of fields, including finance, data science, research, and education.
Students at any Maricopa Community College may need to complete courses at more than one of our colleges.
SCC Program Description
Students planning to major in mathematics are interested in logic, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They have a love for numbers, data, and algorithms. They are trained to think deeply about real-world problems and to solve them using numerical, graphical, symbolic and/or analytical approaches.
Students in the mathematics program earn an Associate in Science degree, which prepares them for transfer to a four-year program. If students follow the correct transfer path, they enter transfer partner universities as juniors. Mathematics courses are available in-person (day and evening) and online. Most students take a combination of in-person and online or hybrid courses to complete their mathematics studies.
