About the Competition
The C² Choreography Competition is a mechanism to connect AZ High School Dance, Scottsdale Community College (SCC) Dance, and the AZ Professional Dance communities. Winners will receive an award as well as perform at the SCC Images in Motion Fall 2022 dance concert on December 6 and 7, 2024.
Awards
One high school dance program will be chosen to:
- Have a $300 scholarship reserved at SCC for a designated graduate from their program (see details below)
- Perform the winning selection on the SCC Images in Motion dance concert
One professional dance company will be chosen to:
- Receive a $800 award (see details below)
- Perform the winning selection at the SCC Images in Motion Dance concert
How to Enter
Fill out the online application using the apply button below. Be sure to provide a link to a video of the work or work in progress. If you have any questions, please contact the Dance Program Co-Directors, Angela Rosenkrans and Karryn Allen sccdance@scottsdalecc.edu.
Eligibility Guidelines
High School
- Only one submission per school
- All entries must be between 3-7 min in length
- Entries can be any style of dance
- Works can be choreographed by students, faculty or guest artists.
- All entries must be available to perform in the Fall SCC Images in Motion Concert and attend a technical rehearsal for setting of light cues.
- Assumption of Risk and Talent Release forms will need to be completed and submitted for everyone involved in the performance prior to the Fall SCC Images in Motion Concert. Forms can be downloaded from this link.
- The designated scholarship student will need to attend a formal scholarship audition at SCC and intend to pursue a Dance Major at SCC in order to be eligible to receive the award
- Due to the nature of the competition, feedback for each entry cannot be provided.
Professional Company
- Only one submission per company/choreographer
- All entries must be between 3-10 mins in length
- Entries can be any style of dance
- All entries must be available to perform in the Fall SCC Images in Motion and attend a technical rehearsal for setting of light cues.
- Assumption of Risk and Talent Release forms will need to be completed and submitted for everyone involved in the performance prior to the Fall SCC Images in Motion Concert. Forms can be downloaded from this link.
- Winners will need to register as a vendor through MCCCD in order to receive their award
- Due to the nature of the competition, feedback for each entry cannot be provided.
