Here’s a fun program that rewards SCC students for something they are likely already doing. Visit the SCC Library and Writing Center at least eight times during this semester and be entered to win a prize. Oh, and taking advantage of these free, support services can positively impact one’s grades, too!
“The purpose of the Frequent User Program is to encourage students to visit the Library, make them aware of the resources available for their studies, engage with a Library faculty member, and have their visits become an ongoing part of their academic experience here at SCC,” said Serene Rock, Information Studies faculty at the Library. “We’re excited to partner with the Writing Center this year on the Frequent User program because we want students to become frequent users of other academic support services on campus as well.
To participate, Artichokes need to pick up a frequent user pass at either the Library or the Writing Center. They then must visit each location a minimum of three times during the semester. Each visit earns a stamp on the frequent user pass. Once a student has their pass stamped eight times, they will be entered into a prize drawing for a $25 gift card to the campus bookstore.
When students come to the library for a stamp they can meet one of the Librarians and learn about some of the services available like study rooms, 24-7 Ask a Librarian chat, and more.
“The research and writing process is closely intertwined, so we’ll be referring students to the Writing Center and vice versa to get their stamps throughout the semester,” added Rock. “We want students to be motivated to get their stamps all while they are receiving the academic support they need to be successful in their classes.”
Prizes for the Frequent User Program will be drawn on Oct. 11 and Dec. 6, 2019, and winners will be contacted by email. Click here for complete details.
