Work from home and spend more time with your family.

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to offer its popular associate degree and certificate programs 100 percent online, providing students with expanded flexibility in how they wish to obtain a higher education. The first 25 programs will be available starting with the Fall 2020 semester, complementing the 100+ current programs available via classroom and hybrid learning.

The approved associate degree programs for distance learning are Anthropology, Business Administration Fastrack, Economics, General Business, History, Information Technology, Management, Marketing, Organizational Management, Sociology, Web Design/Development, and ABUS-Transfer to University Business Program. The approved certificate programs for distance learning are Accounting, Business Administration Fastrack, Culinary Fundamentals, Data Analytics, General Business, Management, Marketing, Organizational Leadership, Social Media Marketing, Sociology, Web Development, and Web Foundations.

“Students pursuing a higher education are seeking greater flexibility in the delivery of their academic programs, and SCC is responding to this demand by providing as many options as possible for student success, including face-to-face, hybrid and now completely online,” said SCC Interim President Chris Haines.

To be accredited, SCC has demonstrated that all courses comprised within each program offer the same robust educational experience as existing face-to-face and hybrid instruction options. Faculty members teaching distance-learning courses are trained on instructional design, accessibility, SCC’s learning management system, and best practices and guidelines.

To ensure student success in the distance-learning format, SCC is making many student support services available online as well, including tutoring, library/research, advising and options for testing.

“For many of our certificate and degree programs, SCC has previously offered about 50% of coursework online, and today’s announcement builds on SCC’s long history of delivering successful eLearning options,” said Dr. Stephanie Fujii, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Making future distance-learning programs available will be shaped by student demand and local workforce development requirements.”
