Scottsdale Community College’s eLearning Steering Committee has received a 2020 Excellence Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) for work done in preparing for the accreditation of its eLearning Programs.
While SCC has provided robust online learning for many years, the College was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in early 2020 to offer its popular associate degree and certificate programs 100 percent online. The first 25 programs will be available starting with the Fall 2020 semester, complementing the 100+ current programs available via classroom and hybrid learning.
NISOD is a consortium of community and technical colleges committed to promoting and celebrating excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership. The organization provides budget-friendly, high-quality, and faculty-focused programs and resources. The NISOD Excellence Awards were established in 1991 to provide NISOD-member colleges with an opportunity to recognize individuals doing extraordinary work on their campuses. Since then, more than 30,000 recipients have been honored with the award by their colleges.
“Recognizing our eLearning Steering Committee with the 2020 NISOD Excellence Award reflects SCC’s expertise and longstanding experience in providing robust online learning for students – well before most educational institutions were forced to move online earlier this year,” said Chris Haines, SCC Interim President. “I applaud the dedication of our faculty and staff to continuously improve our academic offerings for greater student success.”
