SCC Program Description

Marketing is one of the most dynamic and creative careers in business. There are many types of marketing careers, including sales and sales management, advertising, public relations, purchasing, and brand management. If you’re creative, highly motivated, and persuasive, marketing may be the right business career for you.

Marketing includes many different occupations. Field salespeople call on consumer or corporate clients to sell various products and services. Sales managers can manage many salespeople and must be motivating leaders. Account executives at an advertising agency serve as liaisons between corporate clients and the agency’s creative team to develop advertising campaigns. Public relations professionals use strong oral and written communication skills to relay important information about an organization to the public. Whatever field you pursue in marketing, you must have the technical training to succeed.

Social media is one of the fastest-growing careers in the marketing field. As organizations continue to move toward using digital and social media, the demand for social media specialists will continue to rise. In addition to understanding marketing fundamentals, social media professionals must be proficient at creating digital content and maintaining different social media platforms. The Certificate in Social Media provides technical training in creating content and strategic training in planning and implementing social media campaigns.
