Description

Students with degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) majors are in great demand for a wide variety of often high-paying jobs in pure and applied research, business and industry, education, the military, and even law and policymaking. Many future medical professionals (dentists, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and veterinarians) establish their foundational knowledge by majoring in STEM. STEM fields cultivate inquiry and investigation, critical and creative thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills that have enabled humanity to advance our understanding of the natural world, develop strategies to address critical issues, and enhance our quality of life. The more we learn, however, the more we realize there is still much to be discovered—STEM students are needed to address a wide array of challenges that we still face.

There is more to STEM than you might think. What you may have studied in high school was really just the “tip of the iceberg.”

If discovering how nature works and applying that knowledge to engineer solutions to problems and create new technologies to advance humanity appeals to you, your path to a rewarding career in one of the STEM fields starts at Maricopa Community Colleges. Select the option below that meets your current goals.

* If a degree or certificate is listed more than once, refer to the most recent Effective Date for current course requirements. Students at any Maricopa Community College may need to complete courses at more than one of our colleges.

The Associate degrees in this list give you the opportunity for an in-depth study of your chosen field.

Many of our Associate degrees will also transfer to a four-year university upon graduation. With these, you can complete most of your general education coursework at Maricopa Community Colleges and have guaranteed acceptance to one of our over 40 university and college partners to complete your Bachelor's degree.

Be sure to check with your advisor if you plan to move on to a four-year university to ensure your degree program credits will successfully transfer.

A certificate prepares you for entry-level work in your chosen field and requires fewer classes than our bachelor's degrees, Associate degrees, or university transfer options. There are several types of certificates available, including career, trade, and academic certificates.

Credits earned in a certificate program can often be used toward an Associate degree. For more information, speak with an advisor.
