Students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester may be eligible for an In-School Deferment to temporarily stop payments on prior student’s loans.  Scottsdale Community College will automatically send your enrollment status to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) each semester that the student is enrolled.  Most student loan Lenders and Servicers will use this information to determine if you are eligible for an In-School Deferment.

Other important information about the In-School Deferment process:

  • You may be responsible for interest that accrues during your In-School Deferment Period.
  • If you have questions about your In-School Deferment Request, or other deferment or forbearance options, contact your Loan Servicer(s).  To see your Loan Servicer(s), log into your account at the

If you have previous student loans and you need an in-school deferment completed, you can submit a request online through the Admissions and Records office. The form is available on the Admissions Forms & Downloads page. You should submit the form called Enrollment Verification and/or Letter of Non-Attendance Request

Students will use this form to request an enrollment verification letter for loan deferments. If you have a paper form that needs completed, you can upload a copy of the form and it will be mailed based on the information you provide on the request.

If you have questions regarding the enrollment reporting process to National Student Clearinghouse or other enrollment verification questions, please contact our Scottsdale Community College Admission and Registration Office.
